The sun and the moon are the two great creations that are constantly announcing the existence of Allah the Almighty. The source of light for the moon is the sun. The relationship between the Earth and the living world is very close with this star with a diameter of 13 lakh 94 thousand kilometers. In the heat of the sun, God has kept everything on earth fresh and alive. Plants take food from this sunlight. If the heat and light of the sun did not come to the earth, then the life of animals would be endangered. The whole world would turn into a piece of ice. On the other hand, if the sun radiated all its inner heat on the earth, the earth would still be a crematorium.
The issue of sun and moon has been given a prominent place in the Holy Qur'an. But in the Holy Qur'an, it has been said, "He is the One who illuminated the sun and the moon in soft light" (Surah Yunus: 5). Elsewhere Irshad has said, ‘And I have created a burning lamp’ (Surah Naba: 13). In the discussion of the sun, in the Qur'anul Kareem, it has been mentioned everywhere as 'lit lamp', 'radiant', 'bright light', 'sparkle', 'flame'. Which means the sun itself generates intense heat and light through combustion; On the other hand, in the discussion of the moon, it has been said, 'soft light'. Science has said the same thing through research. Science says that the sun produces helium by burning 62 million metric tons of hydrogen per second through nuclear fusion reactions at its center. The surface temperature of the sun is 5778 Kelvin or 5505 degrees Celsius. In other words, the sun is the main source of heat and light in science. On the other hand, the science of the moon is that the moon has no light of its own. The reflected light of the sun is its source. The Holy Qur'an further clarifies, "Allah has placed the moon as a light and the sun as a lamp." (Surah Nooh: 16)
The lunar and solar eclipses are a process determined by Allah. When the moon is in orbit between the earth and the sun for a while, then the sun is partially or completely invisible to the earth for some time, this is a solar eclipse. And when the earth falls between the moon and the sun in its orbit, the moon disappears from the earth's surface for a while, this is a lunar eclipse.
There are many superstitions in our society about solar and lunar eclipses. There is no food at that time, the prepared food has to be discarded, what pregnant mothers do at this time has an effect on the child, if a pregnant woman fights during the lunar or solar eclipse, then the fetus is harmed — this is a misconception. It is also wrong to forbid a woman from sleeping or eating at this time. They have nothing in common with Islamic Sharia and reality. There were some such ideas even in the age of ignorance. In the old days, people thought that a lunar eclipse or a solar eclipse would soon lead to disaster or famine. They thought that the lunar or solar eclipse also carried the message of the birth or death of a great man on earth. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the best friend of the world humanity, the great reformer, has rejected them as a misconception. Mughirah Ibn Shuba (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the sun was eclipsed on the day of the death of Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace be upon him), we were saying that the eclipse was due to the death of the Prophet's son. Hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘The sun and the moon are two of the innumerable signs of Allaah. There is no lunar eclipse or solar eclipse due to the death or birth of someone '(Sahih Bukhari: 1043). Calling the lunar or solar eclipse as a miracle of Allah, in another hadith the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed the Companions to perform prayers during the lunar or solar eclipse. "There is never a solar or lunar eclipse due to the death of a person," he said. But those are two of the signs of Allah. If you see a solar or lunar eclipse, you will stand in prayer. (Sahih Bukhari: 984)
It is evident from the hadiths of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that no lunar eclipse or solar eclipse has any effect on creation. The prevailing beliefs in the society are merely superstitions.
But the question is, if it does not have any negative effect on the creation, then why did the Prophet (peace be upon him) say to stand in prayer at this time and seek the help of Allah? Not only did he say to stand in prayer, but he also feared the cataclysm of the Resurrection in the eclipse of the moon or the sun. Hazrat Abu Musa (RA) said that when the sun was eclipsed during the time of the Prophet (SAW), he feared that the great cataclysm of the Resurrection would take place. He (quickly) came to the mosque. He performed long Qiyam, long Ruku, Sijdah and other prayers. (The narrator says) I have never seen the Prophet (peace be upon him) do that before. Then he said, ‘These signs sent by Allah are not for the death or birth (harm) of anyone. When you see it, then your terrified heart will be engaged in the remembrance and supplication of Allah '(Sahih Muslim: 1989). In another hadith, the lunar or solar eclipse is mentioned as a sign of fear from Allah and he says to give charity to get rid of it quickly.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) instructed his ummah to pray for deliverance from the eclipse of the moon or the sun. Modern science also says that the true lunar or solar eclipse is a matter of terror for the earth. Scientists discovered in 1801 that there is a huge belt of rocks like asteroids, meteorites, meteorites, etc. in the middle of the orbit of Mars and Jupiter in the solar system. Each stone hanging in this belt has a diameter of 120 to 450 miles. As a result of the collision of these rock fragments of the asteroid cluster, many small fragments of rock constantly run towards the earth. But they come into the atmosphere and burn to ashes. But if the massive rocks of the asteroid hit the Earth, the Earth would face a terrible threat. Scientists say that during solar and lunar eclipses, the sun, moon and earth are parallel, along the same axis, so the large rocks hanging from the asteroid are more likely to hit the earth at this time. It is impossible for the Earth's atmosphere to resist when a large rock falls on the Earth. Destruction will be the end of the world.
That is why the great scientist Habib Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought help from Allah at this time. We should avoid superstitions and seek protection from Allah through prayers from the harmful effects of the lunar or solar eclipse according to the Sunnah.
